My Holiday Outfit Number Two: Gold And Silver

Apparently, I like to dress up in shiny clothes so much that this season I got two holiday outfits! The first one was presented here, and this post is about the outfit number two.

My Holiday Outfit Number Two: Gold And Silver

I got this comfortable yet shiny outfit for low profile parties with friends and family. Here I combined a metallic silver beanie, an oversized golden sweater and shiny metallic creepers. Under the sweater I wear a minimalist black ensemble: A vintage top and high rise skinny jeans. As for the accessories, I chose a golden tone pendant in form of a running shoe (a gift from Michelle, my dear business partner at FripeFabrique) and metal rings in copper and silver shades. The rings are the elements that pull the look together.

The sweater came from the same thrift catch in which I found the lace LBD from my holiday outfit #1.

The textured velvet top is vintage and made in late 80s or early 90s – as usual I judged its age by the look and the label. Looks like the Conrad C., a manufacturer company based in Montreal, has managed to survive till nowadays. It still produces women’s clothes and runs fashion shows all around Canada and USA.

How To Get The Look

Is It Ok To Wear Gold And Silver Together?

While planning this outfit, deep down in my soul I was having doubts whether it is ok to wear gold and silver together. I still remember the time when doing so meant committing a terrible fashion crime. It is funny how well stupid restrictions and limitations get stuck in our memory. The rule “never mix metals” as well as many others has died long time ago and no longer is considered to be a faux pas. In the beginning of 2000s the trend of going bold in silver-gold-bronze all together got widely adopted after being presented at runaway shows, and nowadays it is nothing more than a personal preference. So, if you are like me and still have doubts whether you should wear your favourite golden pumps with a shiny silver dress, go ahead and do it! Christmas parties is a perfect place to shine like a star.

Behind The Scene Of The Photoshoot

This time Sam was not available to help me with the photoshoot, so I had to do self portraits. I used a tripod (of course) and an iPad connected to the camera. The iPad ran a special app that tells the camera what to do. It all makes a convenient system producing great self-portraits; one day I will write a post about it.

Happy shiny holidays to you!

Thanks, Kelly! The sweater is my favorite, in winter I was wearing it all the time. It has an incredible value for such a low price, since I found it in a thrift store. The only downside is that it cannot be washed and has to be dry-cleaned. Going to a dry cleaner is not my most favorite activity in the world, so I keep postponing it. The sweater now lays in the pile with the items that need to be dry-cleaned and patiently waits when I will be in the mood :)))
