Fuzzy Green Pom-Pom And Fluffy Pink Coat: First Outfit With Changeable Pom-Pom Beret
Here comes the first outfit with the changeable pom-pom beret I presented you in the Changeable Pom-Pom Beret DIY post! The bright hue of the green pom-pom gave me the inspiration for the vibrant color palette of the look, in which I combined vintage with modern and local designers with DIY. I got this pink faux fur coat at the last Boxing Day in 2014 at Urban Outfitters, while the vintage denim overall came all way down from a vintage store in San-Francisco where I bought it a couple of years ago. And of course the fuzzy green pom-pom is an amazing addition to the fluffy pink coat in terms of color and fluffiness. I think this trio looks awesome together!
How To Get The Look
- Coral faux fur coat: Urban Outfitters (different link for my Quebec friends)
- Pom-pom beret: my DIY Changeable Pom-Pom Beret DIY: Easy Way To Modify Your Look
- Denim overall: vintage made in 60s (similar, similar)
- Nude micro-mesh blouse: American Apparel
- Rainbow Mexican mesh bag: second hand (an Ebay lot of 3 similar bags, a vintage one)
- Red & yellow jade bracelets: my DIY Turn Earrings Into Bracelet Charms DIY
- Giraffe brooch: second hand (a bunch of similar vintage ones)
- Clear resin ring: local Montreal designers (similar with moss and heather, similar with a fish)
- Rockabilly wedges: second hand Wild Diva (I guess this style is totally out of favor, the closest I could find are these ones with tatoos)
Behind The Scene Of The Photo Shoot
We shot this outfit in early January 2015 about 2 weeks after the last winter thaw that happened in December. This time the weather was even crazier. It was above zero and raining. You know what happens in such conditions – freezing rain! That was exactly what we got. Trees, cars and every object outside got covered with a thick layer of ice, and roads became very slippery.
The night before I decided to make some serious preparations for the shoot, and… I curled my hair. Last time I did it was maybe 15 years ago? I don’t even remember. So yes, I had a horrible night sleeping on twenty-two hair rollers. Have you ever tried to sleep on hair rollers? It requires a hell of commitment to the beauty gods! In the morning I got big beautiful waves and was fully rewarded for my suffering. Before going outside I brushed them a bit to make the hair look voluminous and put it on one side of my face. Beautiful! And guess what. It was pouring outside. All the waves got destroyed in 5 sec. Oh well.
Since it was raining, I was afraid to make the camera wet, so we stayed close to our building. Sam was hiding under the roof above the entrance door, and I was strolling in front of him balancing on the icy side walk in my summer wedges. Many of my neighbours were outside as well; however, they got out for a different reason. They were desperate to run their morning errands, but before they had to clean the cars from the thick ice crust. A pretty boring task unless somebody is photo shooting a brightly dressed girl in front of you!
It was beautiful outside. The mother nature showed us her crystal treasures by scattering them everywhere: on fences, tree branches, wires… After we were done with the outfit, I could not help but take the camera away from Sam and start shooting the icy wonderland around me. However, shorty the chilling rain droplets drove me back home.
That day I also shot the second outfit with the changeable pom-pom beret. For that one I changed the pom-pom to the red one. The whole outfit was very different from this one, and I will show it to you very soon! Stay tuned!

What a great idea!
thanks, Alyson 🙂 I always struggle to match details in my outfit, and this DIY is partially a solution for me 🙂 I am glad you liked it too!
